Welcome to Big Brothers of Rhode Island

Ways you can help a fatherless boy

Be A Big Brother!

  • A Big Brother is a mentor, role model and a friend.

  • Big Brothers see their Little Brothers regularly and consistently, usually once a week.

  • Big and Little Brothers watch movies, play basketball, eat pizza, visit museums, go hiking, build model airplanes, play catch, work on cars, complete homework or school projects or sit and talk.

  • Little Brothers are between the ages of 7 and 14 when they are matched with a Big Brother.

  • Big Brothers are over 15. They can be single, married, widowed or divorced, a student, professional, laborer, or retiree.

Be a Sustaining Member

  • Boys and their families are not charged for our service. We depend on the generosity of our community to provide one-to-one mentoring to children in need.

  • It costs $1,500 per year to support a Big Brother/Little Brother match.

  • The alternative can be costly. That same year, spent at the Rhode Island Training School, costs taxpayers $100,000.
